Academic Intervention Program

Inner City Youth Opportunities provides a safe and structured environment for inner city children (grades K-12) of low-income families after school and during the summer months.  Since 1993, thousands of children have benefited from after school Homework Assistance and Academic Tutoring, Summer Tennis Camp and other community sponsored camps and year-round field trips provided by ICYO.  The grant from the Dater Foundation will provide the valuable opportunity for ICYO children to continue improving their after-school education through homework assistance, individualized tutoring lesson plans, emphasis on Early Childhood Literacy and character building.  The children’s academic skills will improve in all basic areas of reading, reading comprehension, writing, grammar, math, other academic subjects and computers.  The children attending the ICYO programs will pass to their next grade level, pass their Ohio State Tests and improve their behavior and leadership skills.
