Cincinnati Cares: A New Path

IGrant Application:

This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to leverage the investment of others to propel our region forward. The Craig S. Young Family Foundation has seen the tremendous value of distributing volunteers, prospective board members, donations, and awareness more equitably across the region -- benefitting BIPOC (Black Indigenous People Of Color)-led and -founded organizations and the people they serve the most. After nearly 5 years, $2 million of investment and 10,000 hours of volunteering, the Young family has exceeded its limits toward addressing the ongoing need to strengthen the Greater Cincinnati region’s volunteer ecosystem. Doug Bolton is now looking to take what he and the Youngs built and set it up in 2022 and beyond as a stand-alone organization. After a 30-year career in publishing and nearly 10 years leading our region's largest commercial real estate services firm, it was Doug's great fortune to connect in 2018 with the Youngs in his "Third Act." As Cincinnati Cares' CEO, Doug believes so much in what Cincinnati Cares is doing that Doug will be a fully committed leader to ensure that the valuable resources the Youngs have provided this region can continue. Grant Evaluation Report:

We achieved stand-alone status, our primary goal for 2022 -- while continuing to serve the marketplace as the most popular way to find a way to help. We continued our outreach to the 700 nonprofits in our network, helping them to improve their volunteer-engagement processes. We engaged skill-based volunteers, and in turn helped other skill-based volunteers find opportunities they otherwise could not on their own.
