Little Free Libraries
Little Free Libraries are wooden book boxes that are open to the public seven days a week, 24 hours a day and are freely accessible to all, removing barriers to book access. Literacy Network places LFLs in lower-income neighborhoods throughout Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky. The message is “take a book, read a book” as users are not necessarily expected to exchange a book or return a book. Part of the mission of our LFLs to provide diversity in backgrounds, cultures, religions and age to represent a broad cross section of the community. This program reaches thousands of users with 105 in use (20 more pending installation) and a goal of eventually placing a total of 200 libraries in the community. Little Free Libraries inspire community and promote education and positivity. Books are a connecter and the program works to connect the community one book at a time.
