Teen Dating and Sexual Violence Prevention Program
Women Helping Women is investing in youth as change agents, where cultural change has the greatest chance of success. In order to comprehensively prevent dating violence and sexual assault, prevention education is critical. WHW's Prevent & Empower program is an innovative, evidence-based dating and sexual violence prevention program that utilizes a public health approach through multi-layered activities. The program engages youth as active bystanders and leaders through classroom-based education, social media, a youth leadership team, and programming with male athletes. 10-day or 5-day programs are offered in schools and other youth-serving organizations free of charge. If there is one message that WHWmust be successful in generating it is this: gender-based violence is common, complex and consequential … but it is PREVENTABLE. Over 4,300 young women were helped through the Prevent and Empower program last year.
