Youth Overcoming Life Obstacles (YOLO) Summer Program

The Center for Independent Living Options, Inc. (CILO) empowers people with disabilities to lead independent and inclusive lives in the community.  The summer program, Youth Overcoming Life Obstacles (YOLO), is a free six-week community-based program dedicated to empowering and preparing transition-age youth with disabilities for a successful and interdependent life.  The Dater Foundation funding allowed the 2018 youth program to expand and invite more students to participate.  There were plentiful supplies for new activities and healthy snacks.  To increase the students experience there were more meaningful trips into the community.  Additionally the funding allowed the Youth Coordinator to attend workshops and trainings relevant to the students served, and there was more outreach by taking part in transition and community resource fairs.  YOLO successfully evolved in its sixth year in 2018 with an authentic focus on youth transition.
