Next: Innovation. Entrepreneurship. Work Skills.
SQUARE1 works to uncover, educate, support, and inspire emerging entrepreneurs. SQUARE1 executes the Next program, formerly Startup Scholars, at Greater Cincinnati high schools introducing students to innovation and entrepreneurial thinking, teaching them to apply the skills and mindset of an entrepreneur to all aspects of life. Next guides the students in creating a startup pitch for an annual contest motivating them with cash prizes for the top teams. This process introduces students to challenges that provide a better awareness of the world around them and introduces partners instrumental in navigating their education and career pathways. Following this event, SQUARE1 will work with students on soft skill development, place them in meaningful work opportunities, and a handful will continue to work on ideas. Participating schools and students have nearly doubled every year with 585 students and 30 schools involved in 2019.
