Catch Every Child

Envision Children (EC), is a 501(c)(3) non-profit agency in Cincinnati, Ohio devoted to helping underserved children achieve academic excellence through engaging and hands-on activities. Envision Children’s mission is to provide underserved students with supplemental educational instruction in science, technology, engineering, math, reading and critical thinking that will allow them to excel academically.

Envision Children's Catch Every Child (CEC) initiative provides out-of-school programs and private tutoring designed to increase the academic performance of students who are primarily African American or Latino. Many of these students also come from families with incomes below the Federal Poverty Level. This population of students is currently underserved and  the CEC initiative strives to improve academic performance. Quantitative data is gathered from the school partner, Winton Woods School District (WWSD), and includes Ohio Measures of Academic Performance (MAP) test data, which evaluates student performance in reading and math.

Catch Every Child (CEC) is comprised of 5 core programs. The Extended Day Program (EDP) provides small group tutoring before and after school to students in grades 1-4, focusing on math and reading. The EDP runs four days weekly for 60-90 minutes daily. On Saturdays, pre-school and kindergarten students participate in the Kindergarten Challenge (KC). The KC enhances the primary skills necessary to be successful in kindergarten and 1st grade during the upcoming academic year. Two 2-hour sessions are offered each Saturday. During the summer, EC operates the Academic Summer Enrichment Program (ASEP), an 8-week educational day camp. Classes are provided Monday-Friday for 6 hours daily, for pre-K “ 4th grade. Morning instruction emphasizes reading and math; afternoon classes emphasize STEM activities. The Pump up the STEM program includes After School STEM, Power Saturdays, and the Summer of STEM (summer day camps). Lastly, private tutoring is offered for one-on-one instruction.

In 2018-19, a record number of students were helped by CEC ... 638, up from 509.. This included a new high for students in the Academic Summer Enrichment Program and In-Class Instruction. In terms of performance toward our goals, interim data showed that 73% of students in their second year were proficient in reading and 69% were proficient in math.
