Four Grants Awarded in January
Cincinnati, Ohio, January 25. 2010 -- The Charles H. Dater Foundation awarded four grants totaling $35,000 in January, including $10,000 to continue its support of Cincinnati Therapeutic Riding and Horsemanship.
Grants made in January:
Cincinnati Arts Association, $10,000. The Overture Academy’s after-school arts enrichment program and an ongoing ticket and transportation subsidy program.
Cincinnati Therapeutic Riding and Horsemanship, $10,000. Riderships (scholarships for those unable to afford the program) that allow young persons with a wide variety of disabilities to the benefit of an accredited therapeutic riding experience.
Friends of the School for Creative and Performing Arts, $10,000. Student ensembles program that presents more than 500 performances annually and requires the participation of every student.
Northside Community School, $5,000. One-on-one Adult Basic Education and Graduate Equivalent Degree preparation for young adults.
The Dater Foundation makes grants to non-profit organizations in the Greater Cincinnati area to carry out programs that benefit children and focus in the areas of arts/culture, education, healthcare, social services and other community needs. The private foundation was established by fourth-generation Cincinnatian, businessman and philanthropist Charles Dater (1912-1993) to ensure that his resources would continue to fund worthwhile community programs after his death. The Foundation has made more than 1,900 grants totaling over $30 million since its founding in 1985.
